US Apples Bloggers Meet
|An invite by FBAI for an exclusive US Apple Export Council, 4 course sit-down apples inspired dinner, at Theory, Kamala Mills, Mumbai on a Friday night just couldn’t be refused. It was time to meet the crunchy and sweet, the world’s favorite snacking apple.
Vivacious Salloni Malkani, of the FBAI merrily welcomed us all at the entrance. She is the heart of every party and the backbone behind Food Bloggers Association of India.
The venue
Theory has a vibe that is classy and plush. The lighting, the music and the premium interior prominently stood out. Such a cool place to hang out with friends on a Friday night!!
Sameer Malkani, co – founder of the FBAI inaugurated the #USApplesTreat event. He introduced the US Apple Council representatives and Chef Clyde of Theory’. Chef Clyde presented to us a quick recipe of the three way apple salad.
We were all here to savour and flavour the ” 4 course Apple menu. ” The seating is very comfortable. Our food journey started with Apple sangria. Crunchy apples, orange rind and cinnamon was added to the goblet, which was very well crafted to suit our palates.
Soup- Curried carrot & apple soup
Pleasant sweet broth, the apple flavour distinctly coming through.
Salad
Poached apple with goat cheese
Dainty looking salad with delicate flavours, goat cheese and apple combination worked like magic on the tastebuds.
Main Course
Veg : Apple gnocchi with butternut quash & sage butter
Non veg : Chicken Roulade with apple jus
The chicken roulade was very moist and tender. The adequate stuffing of cheesy mushrooms on a bed of peronata and brandy apple jus made it lip smacking enough for me to finish the entire portion off my plate. It was savory yet sweet at the same time. Superb stuff, this!
Dessert
Apple Cheese Cake: Didn’t really get the apple flavour in the cheesecake but was delectable enough. Served with burnt butter ice-cream, that lingered on in your palate long after.
Apple Baklawa: Flakey Baklawa with tender apples inside. A beautiful delicate dessert indeed.
It felt so good interacting with other food bloggers and friends. Some spoke of their children, travel tales, recipes and of course social media and its pros and cons. We finished our meal with happy memories and the FBAI group photograph. Thanks Sameer and Salloni, for yet another successful FBAI bloggers Meet.
