Don’t Give up – 12 Ways to Increase your Brain Power
Ways to Increase your Brain Power …. How frequently do you consider and worry about your brain? Do you ever stop to wonder about its mind-blowing powers, thinking abilities, and incomparable intelligence in problem-solving situations? Or do you even possibly check-in and give it a bit of spring clean and an energize it every once in a while?
In the event that you’re similar to the greater part, at that point, your answer will probably be “no” The best thing here is that you don’t have to be super-rich to increase your brain capacity or munch on almonds. All you need to do is work strategically and invest some time to train your brain.
So what are the ways to increase brain power?
Let’s look at 12 simple ways to increase your brainpower and improve your intelligence!
1. Experience something New
Your brain gets stimulated when you try out something new. Old and monotonous things form a regular pattern and the brain is aware of what is required. However, when something new is introduced to the brain, it reaches out to explore new territories expanding the knowledge levels. For eg- new exercises introduced during a workout, trying a new recipe or traveling on a new route to work.
2. Consume less Alcohol
It is proven by scientists that regular consumption of beverages can not only be detrimental to your health but can negatively impact your memory. Over drinking or alcoholism drinking raises your blood alcohol levels to 0.08 grams per ml or above. Studies have shown it alters the brain and results in memory loss in the
3. Get your Brain to calculate and navigate
I still remember back at school, during Math class how we chewed on our pencils and solved those difficult sums without the help of a calculator. We had to rely on our brains to multiply and used certain tricks and formulas to remember. And in today’s era? We totally rely on devices like smart-phones and laptops to calculate the simplest of equations. What is the brain for? Well, off of this and more, so we need to use the brain more for simple calculations things out using an external device and use the device you were born with – your brain.
Google maps has made navigation so easy but it has made our brain take a back seat and lazy too. Let’s go back in time, use a manual map or street signs, ask people around to reach our destination instead of google maps sometimes. Keep those brain cells active, your brain gonna thank you later.
4. Show Curiosity
I am that sort of person that takes everything at face value, never ask questions when things are told while following instructions to the T. Well well, guess that is absolutely harmful for my brain. I need to get into the habit of questioning everyday things/products, services. Promise I will try to work on this, and you? It is good to be curious, there is a fine line between curiosity and being inquisitive. By questioning everything, you get your brain into the habit to be innovate and develop new ideas.
Curiosity kills the cat but it definitely helped us all.
5. Think Positive
While Stress and anxiety dulls the existing brain neurons. It may also stop new neurons from being created.Research has shown that w should always stay and think positively. Introspection and looking in the future tense, speeds up the making of cells and considerably reduces stress and anxiety.
Grab your negative thoughts and throw them out of the window. We all need to try to make genuine effort to replace them with positive ones.
6. Exercise Regularly
Time and again I stress on exercise in almost every post I write. More that it been proven that regular exercise helps to increase brain function, I feel it even exercises the brain. Don’t forget the brain is a muscle. This means that every time you run or lift weights you are creating new brain cells!
7. Train your Brain
How often do you hear people say “I pray to God for a better memory? Yet no-one does anything about this! If you discipline yourself to memorize phone numbers and other important numbers (passport, credit card, insurance, driving license) you will start to see a marked improvement in your memory.
8. Maintain a Health y Diet
A major part of brainpower depends on our diet too. It impacts the brain in a huge way. Our brains need to consume overall 20% of all nutrients & oxygen that we have consumed. Hence we need to feed our brain the good oils and healthy foods it can use to boost brain power (i.e. fresh vegetables and fruit & plenty of OMEGA 3 oils found in oily fish)
9. Reading a Book
When we get engrossed while reading, it relieves tension and stress. This is brain-cell killers because of the escapade to get while reading. Research show that using your thoughts is a great way to train your brain because you project your mind to ‘picture’ what you are thinking of. Reading is a great way to stimulate your imagination!
10. Sleep like a baby
Why do babies sleep so much? Because they are developing their brain as they sleep. Deep Sleep is a perfect detox for the brain. This is when your body rejuvenates brain cells and removes all the toxins that have built up during the day.
11. Eat Less Added Sugar
Eating too much added sugar not only is bad for physical health but has proven to be injurious for brain health. Cutting back on sugar not only helps your memory but also improves your overall health, to many health issues and chronic diseases, including cognitive decline.
12. Stay Socially Active
Get off the smartphone, it not only dulls your brain but keeps you socially inactive. Being face-to-face with friends makes you engage all senses and requires your attention and brain to work while engaging visual and auditory skills. Many studies have shown that active social life leads to a lower risk of dementia.
Your brain is also a muscle, so pay attention to its needs and exercise it regularly. I am taking my blog to the next level with Blogchatter’s #MyFriendAlexa . Now that you learned ways to increase your Brain Power, you can also check Foods that can cure Depression.
