Sofitel Mexican Food Festival

All I have ever known about Mexican food is Nachos, Tacos, and quesadillas until I happened to visit ‘The Mexican Food Festival’ at the Sofitel Hotel – BKC. The Pondicherry Cafe wore a fascinating look, there were waiters serving the tables wearing a Sombrero and Poncho and large cutouts of Mexican dancers adorned the reception of the cafe. The crazy me couldn’t resist some pictures.
Sofitel has totally nailed it by creating the right ambiance, decor and music for a make-belief fun feel of Mexico. I was totally loving it.

Chef Tanya Tovar

We met sweet smiling Tanya Tovar, the chief Chef who gave us an insight into Mexican cuisine. She told us all about the fun time she is having cooking for Indian foodies. Mexican cuisine is as complex as any of the great cuisines in the world, It is created mostly with ingredients, corn, chili peppers, garlic, beans and lots and lots of tomatoes. Acidity and spiciness is the highlight of Mexican cuisine.
So now I was totally in the mood to savor some Mexican delicacies after the chef recommendations for the day. The layout was a treat of all my senses. So let my photos do the talking now.

This was polished off my plate in no time, it reminded me of our Parsi style cooked Kheema. This was similar yet had that distinct Mexican flavor.
